This was project I did when participating in the workshop "Graphic Design Journey: your first professional book cover" with Joh Meira through the British School of Creative Arts & Technology (EBAC). In this workshop, which lasted 7 days, it was proposed to create the cover of the 2023 annual report for Bauhinia Eco-Social (an NGO from São Paulo, Brazil founded in 2016 that aims to support small sustainable businesses).
Below you can see the process I went through and the final product I created.

Cover Inspirations
Translation of the image above:
I liked the simplicity.
I liked the use of colors and the use of white space.
I found it very creative, static but dynamic.
I found it interesting to use two illustrations, one within the other.
I liked the simplicity, little was enough.
Translation of the image above:
I loved the effect of the different layers of the soil.
The use of colors and circles (which are reminiscent of the door's peephole) gives an air of mystery and refers to the title.
The use of color and lines that refer to the title was very creative.
I loved the bright colors and the foliage imitating a jungle.
The fact that you can see both a face and the wolf at the same time in the illustration gave an extra richness to the cover.
Translation of the image above:
Bauhinia was founded in 2016 by a group of recent graduate friends who wanted to support small, sustainable businesses.
The cover is for the 2023 Annual Report.
The purpose of this yearbook's cover is to convey Bauhinia's personality and all the stories that happened during the year.
The creation of the cover must follow the theme “Constructions and Roots Increasingly Deeper” (it can be more or less literal or an association of ideas gained throughout the study)!
The delivery format must follow the following information:
- PNG
- Square: 1166x1166 pixels
- 300DPI
- RGB

Path 1 – Simplicity:
Bauhinia flower with the manifesto inside it or visual elements of the brand

Translation of the image above:
Path 2 - Roots:
Roots in this context being the place of origin, where it began. “Construction” in this context is, despite being hidden at first glance, it is present in the format of São Paulo, as it contains many buildings

Translation of the image above:
Path 3 - Text:
Here I am using both the literal sense of construction (using the house icon) and a more poetic sense of roots since we all come from somewhere, and also connecting root to nature so I brought the leaf

Translation of the image above:
Path 4 - Merge:
“Construction” on this cover is in the background, darkened and voluminous, representing São Paulo. “Roots” is present through nature symbolism, being the Pata-de-Vaca leaf

Translation of the image above:
Path 5 - Merge:
“Construction” here is presented in the sense of building something within us. “Roots” is seen through a bauhinia seedling growing inside a person.

Final Draft - 1:
Here I am using both the literal sense of “building” (by using the house icon) and a more poetic sense of “roots” since we all come from somewhere (also represented by the house icon). Still talking about roots, I decided to put roots coming out of some letters.

Translation of the image above:
Final Draft - 2:
“Construction” on this cover is in the background with the literal meaning of the word, darkened/half-off, represented by buildings symbolizing São Paulo. “Roots” is present through nature symbolism, being the Pata-de-Vaca leaf

Translation of the image above:
Final Draft - 3:
“Construction” in this context, despite being hidden at first glance, is present in the format of São Paulo, as it contains many buildings. “Roots” refers to where the bauhinia is found.
